Core-Monitor for MAC

Free, open-source system monitor and fan controller for Apple Silicon Macs, with a dashboard, menu bar readings and Touch Bar widgets. No account needed.

Core-Monitor Overview

Core-Monitor is a native system monitor and fan controller for Apple Silicon Macs. It shows CPU, GPU, memory, battery, thermals, power draw, fan speeds, network and disk in one dashboard, with readings taken from the Apple SMC and standard macOS system APIs. You choose which readings appear in the menu bar, open a compact popover for a larger summary, and can put live widgets on the Touch Bar if your Mac has one.

The direct download can also control fan speeds through a small optional privileged helper. You can set a fixed speed or draw a custom curve, and when you turn it off macOS takes the fans back. If the connection to the helper stops, the helper tries to return the fans to automatic control. Reinstall the bundled helper when you update the app. Core-Monitor is made by the developer known as offyotto and is free and open source under the GPL-3.0 license. There is no account, sign-in, ads or analytics, and monitoring data stays on your Mac. Version 17.0.5 fixes fan discovery, invalid readings and disk caching. The app runs on Apple Silicon only and needs macOS 13 or later. A free Mac App Store edition also exists, but it is read-only: it has no fan control or Touch Bar widgets and does not read SMC sensors.

Key Features

Core-Monitor puts monitoring and fan control in one free app.

  • Full monitoring: CPU, GPU, memory, battery, thermals, power, network and disk.
  • Apple SMC sensors: readings that match what the hardware reports.
  • Fan control: a fixed speed or a custom curve through an optional helper.
  • Handing back: macOS regains control of the fans when you turn it off.
  • Menu bar readings: pick what shows and open a compact popover.
  • Touch Bar widgets: live readings on Macs that have a Touch Bar.
  • Stall alerts: a real 0 RPM reading on a hot Mac can raise an alert.
  • Privacy: no account, ads or analytics, with data kept on your Mac.

  • Fixes launch coordination, privacy updates and remaining battery localization.
  • Fixes dashboard bounds.
  • Replaces the branding with a new app icon.
